Cartier Williams

Cartier Williams Hoofer,Choreographer,Filmmaker and Performer who hails from Washington, D.C., began his tap dancing career at the age of four. Cartier learned his first tap steps from his grandmother Audrey Williams. At the age of six Cartier performed a piece choreographed by Mýa Cartier won Apollo Kids at The prestigious Apollo Theater Distinguished as one of The Apollo Theater's youngest "Apollo Legends". Later that year Cartier was invited to the Kennedy Center Honors along side Robert Downey Jr.  Mr. Williams  studied at The Washington School of Ballet under the tutelage of Mary Day. When he was 10 years old, Cartier Co-Starred with Tap Legends Buster Brown, Jimmy Slyde and Dianne Walker in the International tour of FOOTNOTES. Cartier consider it a blessing to have danced and shared the stage with tap pioneers and masters Peg Leg Bates, The Nicholas Brothers, and Gregory Hines.  He has performed for 2 U.S. Presidents, and in 1998 Co-Starred in the PBS Special: In Performance at The White House with President Clinton. He toured the U.S. and Japan in the Tony Award Winning BRING IN 'da NOISE, BRING IN 'da FUNK, Co-starring with Savion Glover.He has performed at The Joyce Theatre, New York City Center as well as the L.A Kodak Theatre where he performed The AFI Awards: A Tribute to Tom Hanks. Other appearances include a performance at Usher's birthday bash in New York City performances for the FCC, The CIA, The State Department and Department of Justice. Now 21, Cartier is currently performing his latest production A BEAUTIFUL CHAOS  which is slated to tour in 2011 created by Cartier and one New York Film Academy friend Matt Denoma. He is collaborating with Harold Cromer on a new work which will premiere in Spring 2011.  He is a student of The New York Film Academy. As a Filmmaker Cartier has written, directed and produced: Phone Bait, The Violinist, and My Love Awaits. He's appeared in Spike Lee's Film Bamboozled. Cartier also performed at The Opening of the Cannes Film Festival for Moulin Rouge.Cartier Williams performed with Super-DJ Chew FU at The Palms Hotel/Resort in Las Vegas. His first Instructional DVD: CARTIER WILLIAMS' HOOFING WITH THE BASICS VOL.1 is available at all Capezio Retail Stores.Cartier choreographed and directed CARTIER WILLIAMS RYTHM REFIX in May 2011 at Joe's Pub.


Guillem Alonso

Receiving various grants from the Catalan government (Spain) he studied tap dance in New York, where he was taught by famous dancers such as Brenda Bufalino, Barbara Duffy, Savion Glover and others.
In 1993 he won 1st prize at the World Tap Championship in Switzerland organized by the International Dance Organization.
During Christmas 1995 Guillem appeared as tap soloist for the show Yuletide Celebration, accompanied by the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. Later on he toured across the USA and Europe with several of the best American tap companies, the American Tap Dance Orchestra, Manhattan Tap, Tap Collective from New York and Steps Ahead from Los Angeles.
Guillem lives in Barcelona where he performed and created numerous works including choreography for the show That’s Jazz, created for the opening of the new theatre Scenic Barcelona, has choreographed tap numbers in the last production of the musical Fame in Madrid, and also for the Monty Payton’s Spamalot. At home, Guillem has started tap improvisation sessions, Tap Jam, since 1998, and never stopped since then.  
During the seasons 2000-02 he was tap soloist in the successful production of Fire of Dance, touring all around Europe. He choreographed tap solos and duets, one of those being the captivating Sand dance. This is a style of dance that he has performed with many companies and is one of his trademarks.
He is also the founder and director of Barcelona Rhythm Tap company.
Guillem is a member of Camut Band tap and percussion company, where he is one of the creators of their shows Kiting-Kita, Sonoritats and La Vida Es Ritme – Life Is Rhythm, in which he continues to perform. It has enjoyed success in dance festivals in Edinburgh (Scotland), Toronto (Canada), New Haven (USA), Greenwich (Great Britain) and Tàrrega (Spain). This show was on Broadway (NY) performing at the New Victory Theatre and on the West End (London) at the Lyric Theatre.  
He is one of the creators and performers of the new shows Boogie Woogie Tap and Tap Olé,. Lately he has created the new show Tapeando, which has toured Germany and performed at the London’s Peacocks Theatre May 2011.
As a leading member of the tap community Guillem has introduced and motivated a new generation of tap dancers in Barcelona. He has got the Dansacat 2010 award for the recognition to his work as a dance artist from Catalonia.
Now, he is directing his own dance school Luthier, with lots of tap workshops and a special training program for professional tap dancers coming from around the world.

Avalon Rathgeb

Born in Devon, Avalon trained at her mothers dancing school until the age of 18 when she was awarded a full time scholarship to the train at the renownedBird College. She graduated in 2009 where she knew that tap dance was her passion and made the decision to solely focus on that genre. Since graduating in 2009 she has completed 2 internships for the American Tap Dance Foundation in NYC, was a company member of Grant Swifts TeAyPe in Melbourne, Australia and has danced in many leading Tap dance companies in the UK. Avalon was invited to accept one of the 25 places reserved for outstanding dancers in the 2014 Tap programme at the school at Jacob’s Pillow in Massachusetts, USA. Her career highlights include performing in the opening ceremony of the London 2012 OLYMPICS as a tap dancing dementor, being asked to join Tapestry Dance Company, North America’s only full time and paid Tap dance company and recently creating her own company 'Old Kent Road', which premiered their first work 'Fall out' for Resolution! 2015 at 'The Place', London Avalon regularly teaches for international tap festivals and workshops including the Stockholm tap festival, Prague City Tap festival, Australian Tap festival, Escola Luthier Dansa and MadTapMadrid, Tanzhaus- Dusseldorf, Tip-Tap- Poland, Zig-Zag Studios in Prague. Here in London Avalon teaches at Bird College, Pineapple Dance Studios and South London Dance Studios. Avalon's next adventure takes her to Baku, Azerbaijan where she will be closing the 2015 European games with Tap dance!! 

Tiny Beat

Tiny Beat has been performing since 2006. His performances include a vast array of musical and social events in bars, clubs, graduation parties, festivals, and so on. He has attended different beatbox battles and usually won most of them. Tiny Beat regularly entered the official Czech beatbox championship – Czech Beatbox Battle where he always placed high. In 2012 Tiny Beat won the state championship and he is currently the reigning Czech beatbox champion. In 2010 Tiny Beat became a member of a beatbox group BeatBurgerBand (members include: Jaro Cossiga, Jony Týpek, Peter Strenčik and Ondřej Ruml) under DaSkaRecords. BeatBurgerBand were four times the champions of the Czech Republic in team beatbox and are holding the position of vice- champions of the world in this category. With the BeatBurgerBand Tiny Beat entered the talent TV show “Talentmanie” making it all the way to the semi-finals. Together they also recorded the sounds for the beatbox game of pairs for smart phones, a TV commercial for Opel Corsa and performed on stages all over the Czech Republic as well as in Slovakia and the USA. Tiny is one of those artists that are not afraid to combine beatbox with other artists. With other musicians he plays different music genres from jazz, swing, blues to hip hop, rock, and electro. Tiny has been working with some of the prominent Czech DJs including DJ Friky and DJ Flux (Trouble Team), DJ Rockstar or DJ Philip TBC. He combined beatbox with dance performances of breakdance, experimental dance (Kallil from the Flying Steps project) and with the best tap dancers of the world (Pavel Strouhal and Project Wings, Avalon Rathgeb – London, Michelle Dorrance – New York, Chloe Arnold – Los Angeles, Jason Samuels Smith – New Jersey). Tiny Beat is also a member of a theatre play, pantomimic “game” called Push the Button where his beatbox serves as the musical background to the performance. Tiny is also a member of different artistic projects where he meets musicians from all over the world which gives him another opportunity to collaborate and combine beatbox with other styles. So far the biggest project that he has been a part of since 2012 is called Instant Acts against Violence and Racism, a multicultural project where the artists spend two months touring German and Italian schools, theatres and correctional centers. This project comprises of two months of workshops and shows aimed to fight against violence and racism. Thanks to these experiences Tiny Beat has become a qualified beatbox instructor. In fact he is able to teach beatbox anyone, no matter their age or nationality. Tiny Beat gained another great experience as an instructor at the Prague City Tap Festival where he lead a week long workshop and taught the best tap dancers from all across the globe the basics of beatbox. In the meantime Tiny Beat turned to looping. He is using the loopstation, a device that is recording his voice and beats and subsequently playing them in loops. This way Tiny is able to supply for the whole band. His most favorite music genres are hip hop, breakbeat, dubstep, drum and bass, house, electro... Tiny Beat is young and dedicated artist that is not afraid to try new things and that is able to take on any kind of performance


A percussionist successful on Czech as well as international level, Tokhi has loved making music since childhood. He has cooperated with many artists from all over the world, just to name a few: Karel Gott, Pavel Šporcl, Jana Koubková, Vlasta Redl, Ilona Csáková, Laura a její tygři, UDG, Pavel Fajt, Emil Viklický, 100°C, Shahab Tolouie, Feng Yun Song, Vesna Caceres, Mário Bihári, Ondřej Ruml, Work – Shop & More (legendary Hiram Bullock and Freda Goodlett) and many others.
With his music, Tokhi has traveled to most European countries and the U.S. and during the EXPO 2010 he performed in China. He has played in sold out stadiums and concert halls throughout Europe. Although still young of age Tokhi is a valued studio percussionist and a respected musician on the Czech as well as international scene.
He works as a sponsored drummer for several producers of musical instrument: Meinl, Flix, Balbex, Cympad, Korg and Boomwhackers. In cooperation with a Polish and Norwegian company he produces own signed instruments and clothes. His teachers are masters of percussions from the U.S., Italy, Africa, Dennmark and Germany, for example Arthur E. Hull.
Tokhi teaches percussions and improvisation. Next to his purely musical activities, he works as a DrumCircle facilitator leading workshops for companies, schools and at festivals. He is the founder of a drum orchestra basing on the principle of world samba bands from Brasilian Rio de Janeiro.
Thanks to his talent and passion he has become the face of advertising campaigns and other media presentations of companies such as mBank, AC Sparta Prague or Kytary.cz.
Cajon [kaˈxon]is basically a small portable percussion set. That’s why it is used by big bands for accustic concerts, playing on the street or for special occasions.
It comes from Peru and it is said to have origin in drumming on boxes with alcohol in ports or on transport ships. Cajon has become famous in Spain, where it is used as an instrument accompanying flamenco.
The participants will try different techniques of cajon play, learn the basic rhythms (rumba, plena), learn about cajon´s history and try different types of cajon. The worshop includes body percussion – playing on your own body.
Group cajon playing is an extraordinary experience and a unique program in the Czech Republic.
Tokhi is a company percussionist of one of the best cajon producers Meinl.

Pavel Strouhal

Between 1983 and 1991, Pavel studied at the State Dance Conservatory in Prague. In the 90‘s he danced in UNO dance company discovering his first creative ambitions. On one hand he aimed to form his own dance projects and increase the interest for dance theater, on the other hand (just like his favorite Bob Fosse and Jerome Robbins) was eager to increase the significance of a choreography and movement in domestic theatrical and musical productions. While preparing the Czech premiere ofCats in 2004, Pavel was given an opportunity as the third choreographer in the World (by the London owners of the copyrights) to put together his own choreography for this musical.
On the dance theatrical scene Pavel worked as a choregrapher, director, and as a script writer (in co-operation with British composer BB Cooper) on projects such as Ghetto 1577 and La Bohéme. He was a co-author of tap dance show ProjectWINGS which celebrated a great success at EDINBURG FESTIVAL FRINGE 2007. For Laterna Magika he choreographed the CODE 5808. Home as well as abroad Pavel works as a choreographer of fashion shows, TV commercials (Becherovka Dance,Akvavit, T-Mobile). As an author and director he produces many events and company events, he directed and co-scripted Bomton Cup 2007, choreographed and supervized dance reality showBailando for NOVA TV. Pavel also choreographed movie and stage version of Kvaska musical (staged under the name Touha / Lust in Kalich Theater). Other cooperations include projects with Jiří Korn, Dara Rolins, Lucie Bílá, or Daniel Landa.
Much various is his cooperation with Prague and Czech musical scenes. As choreographer Pavel worked on Throughly Modern Millie, West Side Story, Kudykam, etc.  In Musical Theater Karlin he choreographed musicals including Carmen, Jesus Christ Superstar, Curtains, for Moravian National Theater Ostrava Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and coworked with Theater of J.K.Tyl on Chicago, I Love You, you´re perfect, now change ! , Duchess of Chicago, Spamalot,Gypsy, EVITA, and Nine. Pavel is the producer of the second authorial inscenation of ProjectWINGSR.I.P., joined many international interships and workshops. He is the chairman of Czech Dance Benefit Society association and the head organizer of Prague City Tap Festival. Lastly, Pavel is coach and choreographer of Kateřina Marie Fialová, world tap dance champion.
